Hello my name is Nipsy and I'm a Neopet-aholic. Yes you read it right. I have become a gamer. Or at least a kiddie version of a gamer. I play for hours on end, collecting my Neopoints religiously all the while fighting to keep ahead of my own children in the game. I have officially lost it.
It started simply enough. My children wanted to join the site Neopet, but I had to check it out first. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I had game favorites, a shop of my own filled with outrageously priced items, and an addiction to NeoQuest. I have a little bird Neopet who in turn has her own petpet. Terrifying, isn't it?
The game NeoQuest is a game board type online game where you play against actual people. Of course most of my opponents are about 20 or so years younger than me. They even have this stupid little chat window I have to keep minimizing. As much as I love whooping their arses in the game, I have no desire to chat with youngsters. If I wanted that, I'd talk to my own children.
Laugh if you must, I know I do. But considering my present life situation, this is about the only thing keeping me sane right now. Sitting here bleeding into a game where I yell at the virtual dice when I only roll a one when I need a 6, stops me from screaming at the unfairness of life. Making someone purchase a peppermint slice of pizza from my shop at triple the price stops me from crying my eyes out late at night when I sit here alone.
There is a satisfaction to knowing no matter how abandoned or alone I'm feeling, I can still jump on the game and let out my own version of cruelty as I send all players but myself home. As I steal their colored keys for my own gain just as they think they are winning, or as I win mini game after mini game and reward after reward. Take that you little shits! Stealing their points and their victories makes me grin in that Hannibal Lecter way as I climb into my chair to catch an hour or two of sleep a night.
Yes, I am an addict and I have no desire for a 12 step program at this time. At least I know when I sign into the game there are groans of "Oh no, not the old lady again". I know I have not been forgotten, my name lives on.

July 8, 2009 11:25 AMHi Nipsy!
mmm.... peppermint pizza...
You're a virtual pet nerd. You will be reticuled by all other gamers(and people who own pet rocks), but you can make fun of people who still have Tamagotchis, or whatever the heck that thing was called.
July 8, 2009 11:57 AMIf you ever start a 12 step Neopet support group,I have a couple of kids that NEED to join!! Fortunately, I can kick them off the computer to support my blogging habit, helps a bit!
July 8, 2009 12:27 PM@Karen...yes well, I have that problem as well...by the way, how'd that trout to the face taste?? LOL

@C.B.... Ummmm, actually I kidnapped my daughters Tamagotchi months after she got it... is there anything else left I can make fun of?
@Thinkin... Sure thing...but first send me their screen names so I can beat them in a game of Neoquest...LOL
oOohh I used to be hooked on Neopets too. Have you joined a guild? Now, my mom takes care of my neopets and plays all the games.
